Real Housewives
Bravo
Real Housewives of Atlanta's NeNe Leakes hosts the other ladies in Hollywood.

By Rodney Ho

Bravo decided to give the ladies of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" a week off so fans could watch Seth MacFarlane sing "I Saw Your Boobs" on the Academy Awards.

But now that we're back in action, it's appropriate that the five women not named NeNe Leakes have decided (per suggestion of the producers, ahem) that this would be a good time to visit NeNe in Hollywood to see how she's doing now that she's  a real actress and such.

NeNe decides to hold a welcome party for the ladies with a bartender and catering to show that she's made it in Hollywood Hills. She greets them at a vacation home she rents for them. (I would tend to believe Bravo paid for said vacation home but why bog us down with such details?) The women get aggravated because their environmentally friendly Hummer limousine can't make it up the hill to the home. So NeNe has to drive down and pick up Kenya Moore, Kandi Burruss, Porsha Stewart and Cynthia Bailey. Phaedra Parks arrives three hours later, having missed the earlier flight, with no explanation cited. It's clear that at least Kandi and Phaedra are annoyed and would rather just party in their vacation home or get a few extra hours of shut eye.

NeNe and Gregg, her ex-husband she's back dating again, schedule dinner for 9 p.m., which is actually pretty considerate for the Atlanta women still adjusting to PST.

But for reasons we can't ascertain because the cameras don't show it (an editing choice, I presume), the ladies arrive at 11:40 p.m., an obnoxious 2 hours and 40 minutes late.  The women say they tend to be late but that is truly beyond the pale. And apparently, they don't bother to telling NeNe either until 11 or so. NeNe is understandably livid. She thinks this is disrespectful. And it was.

We don't actually see NeNe sitting around waiting for them. But she tells them in the driveway to turn around and go back to the vacation home.

"How dare you show up at almost midnight? You got me real messed up!"

While Phaedra, Porsha and Cynthia are reasonably understanding, Kandi is hungry and especially irritable, not that NeNe cares. "Go eat the nail polish off your nails," NeNe says to the Bravo cameras.

Gregg takes pity on Kandi and gets some drinks and a platter of antipasto for them to nibble on. Kenya peeks into the house and notes how great her furniture she lent NeNe looks. They end up going to FatBurger for dinner well past midnight.

Later, Kandi admits the obvious: "I"m not the nicest person when I'm hungry."

The next morning, Kenya is up way before everyone else. She is trying to portray herself as "post cancer scare" nice but the cracks in that facade soon appear. First of all, she's visibly annoyed everyone else isn't up yet and is worried they will be late again. "I'll cook a meal like the help," she says. And she'll do it in a tank top to show off her fabulous figure to boot.

Porsha is up second and tries to make coffee. She has trouble with the coffee maker, mistaking creamer for coffee. Kenya, who thinks she's already a major ditz, grits her teeth and keeps her mouth shut - barely. "This is the new Kenya," she says to the cameras. "Don't say anything. Just breathe!"

She chooses to treat Phaedra coldly. "Until I receive an apology, I don't have any time for her and her nonsense," Kenya says.

Their goal is to get to the Groundlings to take a class on improv that Kenya scheduled. The five women get there on time. Guess who's late? NeNe. By the time she gets there, it's pretty much over. "Payback," NeNe says.

"Should we lock her out, give her a plate of cheese and send her on the way? Nah... we'd never do that," Kandi says sarcastically later.

Later, they visit "The New Normal" set, where they peek into NeNe's trailer. We presume they went on set, too, but the Bravo cameras don't show any of that. (Considering that NBCUniversal owns both Bravo and NBC, you'd think we'd get to see the actual set visit but alas, not to be.)

That night, at the swanky Crustacean in Beverly Hills, the ladies get their own VIP room upstairs and NeNe tries to impress the ladies with her grasp of the food options.

Then she starts picking a fresh scab with Kenya, that scab being the "break up" with her "boyfriend" Walter. NeNe wants to know the details. Kenya isn't being yappy about it. Porsha digs a little at her when she notes that her husband Kordell had invited Walter to his recent birthday party she hosted. Porsha gets annoyed and leaves the meal.

NeNe tries to calm Kenya down. Kenya says she doesn't want to share details of her personal issues in front of Porsha and Phaedra. Phaedra is noting to the other ladies how Walter is a player in town and has dated a couple of her friends.

Kenya is so peeved at Phaedra, she tells NeNe she'd like to "f***in' punch Phaedra in the face."

Bye, bye, Miss "Nice" Kenya, we hardly knew ya.

QUOTES
"I'm in Hollywood Hill, but I still know how to get hood!" - NeNe

"I'm not surprised about Walter and Kenya. You can't make a whore a housewife." - Phaedra, giving it to Kenya behind her back.

"What would a dinner be without Kenya storming away in tears?" - Phaedra, noting a particular pattern Kenya has set this season

"If they don't back off, Vegas won't be pretty." - Kenya, about part two of the trip we'll see next week.

TRAILER

The ladies visit a real strip club this time in Vegas (as opposed to the campy Clermont Lounge here in Atlanta earlier this season.). And Kenya's resentments toward Phaedra boil over. "I don't need an apology. It's not going to mean s*** anyway," she tells Phaedra.

RATINGS

The 15th episode two weeks ago drew 2.6 million viewers, the lowest since episode four Thanksgiving weekend. It's slightly lower than the 2.67 million the comparable 15th episode in 2012 drew. The show still remains ahead of season four's pacing though its 18-49 numbers appear to be a smidge lower, indicating the show has gotten a little grayer in the average audience age department.
