Bill Nye the Science Guy is the second man off "Dancing With the Stars" in a year that looks to be dominated by the ladies.
He had zero chance of winning and what made things worse, he was hampered by a quad injury last week that rendered him virtually immobile this week. A doctor recommended he not dance.
But he gamely tried anyway tonight and his dance partner wisely created an entertaining routine in which he played a stiff robot, an act he was able to pull off, even if it had very little actual dancing involved. The judges gave him sympathy 5s and 6s. That wasn't enough to keep him around.
It was unclear who else was near the bottom but they placed Brant Dougherty and Christina Millan "in jeopardy," whatever that means.
Valerie Harper was way off her game tonight, having trouble with her choreography. But she survives, certainly thanks to a flood of votes. It's clear, though, that the pace is wearing her down and it's unclear how much longer she'll be able to last.
The others all dance at varying levels of decent to excellent with a relatively narrow range from Jack Osborne (22) to Brant (27). I especially enjoyed Snooki's quick step.
