Atlanta rap and reality star T.I. is getting back into acting in a multiple episode role on Showtime's "House of Lies."
According to the Showtime press release:
T.I. will play “Lukas,” clothing company co-owner with childhood friend “Dre” (previously announced guest star Mekhi Phifer), who enlist Marty (Don Cheadle) to help expand their empire.
VH1 is currently airing the third season of his reality show "T.I. & Tiny," which is continuing to pull in decent ratings. He was also recently featured on the summer song of 2013, "Blurred Lines" with Robin Thicke.
Jimmy Fallon is going to be in Atlanta next week as he prepares for his move to "The Tonight Show" early next year.
Plus, he'll host a Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre comedy showcase Oct. 15 featuring three comics: Julian McCullough, Nate Bargatze and Nick Thune. This is part of a six-city tour.
I'm going to be on vacation and out of town Oct. 15 so I'm going to miss Fallon. During his last work-related visit to town in 2009, he visited 11 Alive and promoted his new late-night talk show to a cavalcade of media outlets, including us. He and I hugged it out in this video.
E! is profiling embattled Georgia celebrity chef Paula Deen on Monday, Oct. 14 at 10 p.m.
They interview her sons, her aunt but not Deen herself. The Savannah resident is still on lockdown since that painful Matt Lauer interview over the summer following revelations about her use of the N word and her purported racial attitudes in general. Retailers who sell her wares fled in the wake of the bad publicity.
Here are some quotes E! provided to promote the special:
“Let me tell you the secret to Paula. It wasn’t about the food, it was always about the stories.” – Gordon Elliott , Producer, "Paula's Home Cooking"
“The media sensed there was something blubbery and bleeding and vulnerable in the water. And it attacked.” – Allen Salkin, Author, “From Scratch: Inside the Food Network”
“The African-American community who were vilifying her have come back to say to me, ‘She did not deserve what's happened to her.’ All of us have said things that we regret." -- Rev. Dr. Leonard Small
“She will always have an audience. I won’t be in it, but she will have an audience.” – Anthony Bourdain, Celebrity Chef
“If we were any closer, we’d share underwear. Our relationship and our bond has been forged through fire.” – Jamie Deen, Paula’s Son
“If people knew the kind things my mom has done for the community and for families over the years, I think that they would be stunned.” – Bobby Deen, Paula’s Son
“I think the most tragic thing about this is that the reason her career imploded had nothing to do with this lawsuit. It has to do with the fact that she was asked a question, and then answered it as honestly as she could.” – Jonna Spilbor, Attorney
“This woman has endured and conquered more adversity that most people had ever imagined possible, and my money’s always on Paula.” – Gordon Elliott, Producer, "Paula's Home Cooking"
