AMC is developing a spinoff to its biggest show "The Walking Dead" for 2015.
The same players will be involved, including Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert.
While the original series shoots in Senoia and areas nearby, it's clearly too early to say where they will place the new one. (The CW shoots "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff "The Originals" here.)
“Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer,” said AMC prez Charlie Collier in a statement. “We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”
Details are vague. It's being dubbed a "companion series," which probably means we'll be seeing how another group of survivors in a different environment is dealing with the zombies. And in this case, it will not play off of a graphic novel.
The fourth season of "The Walking Dead" returns Sunday, October 13.
It was the most popular basic cable drama series this past year, beating most broadcast dramas as well.
