Former "Good Day Atlanta" host Suchita Vadlamani had been out of TV for two and a half years but recently found a new home with national reach: HSN.
She joined the mega home shopping operation in July, selling a variety of items from fashion, jewelry and beauty, to name a few, a spokeswoman said.
A blogger who tracks home shopping hosts first noted her appearance on the air earlier this month and a fan commented on her Facebook page about it, too.
Vadlamani, who hasn't done any interviews since she left "Good Day Atlanta," hosts out of St. Petersburg, Fla., where HSN's studios and headquarters are based.
She appaeared early Saturday morning (Sept. 28) between 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sept. 28 with host Carrie Smith. She promoted Sporto Boots, Concierge Signature Collection sheets and MarlaWynne Fashions, among other items. She naturally wore clothing she was selling.
"I am not only new to HSN but I am new to DG2 jeans," Vadlmani said at about 5:08 a.m. while selling stretch deni boot-cut jeans. "This is the first time I've had the privilege of wearing them and they really are wonderful! The fit is fabulous. It has just the right amount of stretch in it. I feel like my whole leg is elongated. They are so comfortable... It's making me look tall."
Over the three hours, she co hosted for an hour and spent the other two hours live chatting and Tweeting with shoppers. (The more experienced Smith spent more time hosting.)
During the 6:30 a.m. half hour, she put on a new red top to sell a fiberbed, which can be placed on top of the mattress, followed by pillows and sheets.
This is a lot tougher than it looks. She has to remain enthusiastic and knowledgable while talking nonstop with a cohost for several minutes at a time over one rather narrow subject with the simple goal: motivate viewers to buy, buy, buy!
About the fiberbed: "It is so luxurious. It recreates those five-star hotel experiences, those bed-and-breakfast experiences in this fiberbed. You cannot go wrong!"
About the sheets, with multiple color options: "Let's talk about the gorgeous colors. That chocolate brown is to die for!"
She is set to work again between 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30 and Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Vadlamani was a popular co-host on "Good Day Atlanta' for more than eight years with Mark Hayes, who now works at the NBC affiliate in Dallas. She left WAGA-TV at the end of 2010 and was replaced by Gurvir Dhindsa.
She has been relatively low key since her departure at the end of 2010 but maintains a public Facebook page, which has more than 11,000 fans. She posted a note asking for reliable movers in Atlanta in June so she is clearly no longer living here. She also posted a note with an attractive man saying "I said yes!" on July 9, which promoted many folks to think she either got engaged or married. She received 2,091 likes and 492 comments. After the flood of congratulations, she thanked her fans on July 21 with another photo of her and the unidentified man.
