Jermaine Dupri definitely got vegan ice cream right.

Known to so many as a Grammy award-winning producer and certified hitmaker, it’s no surprise that Jermaine Dupri (JD) knows the recipe for success.

How did JD get into the ice cream-making business you ask? Well, it started with a 25-day cleanse, where he stopped eating all animal-based products. Recognizing how good he felt after that cleanse, he kept up with a vegan lifestyle for nearly two decades now.

So, let’s get into the ice cream! The collection includes ice cream that is dairy-free, all-natural, with no animal milk or creamers and no artificial flavors or sweeteners. Talk about healthy! JD worked with international dessert expert, Malcom Stogo to make sure his ice cream was flavorful. A lot of times, when people talk about vegan foods or even healthier foods in general, one of the main complaints, is lack of flavor – JD wanted to make sure that wasn’t the case with his ice cream. JD’s vegan ice cream absolutely hit the mark on this one. There is this perfect combination of rich, plant-based ingredients, that creates a creamy thickness, imitating animal-derived cream.

There are currently six flavors: key lime pie, strawberry sweetheart, welcome to Atlanta peach cobbler, apple butter, chocolate my way and cookies and cream. Honestly, you couldn’t go wrong with any of those; they all sound delicious, right? Of course, once I found out about JD’s vegan ice cream, there was only one thing left to do – try it! The brand is exclusively sold at Walmart for now, so I made my way there and headed straight to the ice cream aisle. I opted for the cookies and cream and was not disappointed at all. My first thought was, is this really vegan? That’s how good it was! Just like described on the website, it was rich and actually had all the flavors that I was hoping it would.
