Atlanta’s own is getting recognized by his city.

Rapper and actor, Clifford Harris, better known as T.I. was recently recognized for his community service. The Grammy award-winning artist was presented with an Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award by Georgia State Representative Debra Bazemore at the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta. T.I. shared the news via his Instagram page.

“In the grand scheme of things, we are only here on Earth in this life for a short period of time, and once we leave, people won’t remember the clothes we wore or the things we have,” T.I. said during his acceptance speech. ”We will only be remembered by what we meant to our family, our children and what we were able to do for others.” That wasn’t the only award T.I. received – he was also presented with the Volunteer’s Achievement Lifetime Award. The award was presented to him by Global International Alliance on behalf of President Joe Biden and recognizes the rapper’s 4,000 hours of service to the United States.

T.I. has put in extensive work to make a difference in the Atlanta community. Most might know and love him for his accomplishments in music, but he gives back through a number of organizations like For the Love of Our Fathers and Harris Community Works. In addition to that, last year the Atlanta native bought a portion of his old childhood neighborhood, Bankhead. The rapper has plans to build a new affordable housing community with 143 units, a greenhouse, a community center and garden.

The rapper shares some of his good deeds via his Instagram, as he did the awards he recently received. In the first of two posts, T.I. shared “You spend years grinding, fighting, clawing and climbing with what feels like the weight(&Hate)of the world on your shoulders.... oftentimes feeling like no one cares, notices, or appreciates your efforts, intentions or sacrifices ... then BAM.”

Congrats to T.I. on all of his accomplishments!
