10 events you can’t miss in metro Atlanta this weekend

September 8, 2016 Stone Mountain: The Stone Mountain Park 48th Annual Yellow Daisy Festival got underway Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 as more than 425 artists will be featured to an estimated 200,000 shoppers over this weekend. The festival opens 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The annual festival is celebrated in September during the blooming of a special Yellow Daisy which only grows within 60 miles of Stone Mountain. In 1846, Viguiera Porteri was discovered growing on the granite outcroppings of the mountain. The Yellow Daisy Festival jury selects festival crafters and artists to display their handmade work including pottery, fabric, painting, jewelry, sculpture, fiber, photography, fine arts and traditional arts and crafts.
