10 things to do in Atlanta this weekend

Lunar New Year celebration at Atlantic Station
Raftermen

This weekend in Atlanta, we’re celebrating Lunar New Year and the Year of the Dragon. But that’s not all - love will be in the air as Valentine’s Day adds a touch of romance to the mix, offering plenty of shows and events for a date night out. If you’re feeling adventurous, climb (or boulder) to new heights, run in your undies for a good cause, and catch the Super Bowl with a charitable twist that may include a new furry friend.

And mark your calendars! Honoring the legendary Spanish designer and haute couturier, Cristobal Balenciaga: Master of Tailoring will showcase over 30 rarely seen garments, illustrations and photographs, now through June 2, many making their U.S. debut. Curated exclusively for SCAD FASH, precious Balenciaga archival pieces from the late 1940s to 1968—the golden age of the house with the designer at the helm - will be presented. The show is organized in collaboration with the Fondation Azzedine Alaïa and Balenciaga Archives, Paris, and Parodi Costume Collection Miami. Cristobal Balenciaga: Master of Tailoring will examine the designer’s experimentation with form, presenting a variety of silhouettes to highlight his mastery of tailoring and inventive approach to fashion design. Inviting guests to step back in time into Balenciaga’s legendary Paris atelier, the exhibition will feature an elegant array of daywear and eveningwear, including exquisite gowns worn by Elizabeth Taylor and Delores del Rio.
