Participating in any sort of triathlon might seem intimidating for even the seasoned runner but this weekend's Wanderlust 108 is in a category all its own.
The "Mindful Triathlon" returns to Atlanta on Sunday, offering an outdoor yoga experience, guided meditation and a 5K run/walk for people of all exercise levels. The 5K is not timed and participants are encouraged to go at their own pace so whether you hold three city records for the annual half-marathon or you're a Zen master of couch-riding, this event promises to be a fun-filled day for everyone can enjoy.
"If you want to sprint to the finish line or take a leisurely stroll with friends, you're welcome to go as you wish," said Kimberly Small, Wanderlust's director of publicity.
Wanderlust 108 in Atlanta starts off with a 5K fun run through Historic Fourth Ward Park, followed by yoga classes from MC Yogi and Mary Beth LaRue. The third leg of the triathlon is a relaxing guided meditation by Noah Levine.
Participants can also sign up for mini-classes to learn the art of hooping, slacklining (a challenging balancing act of walking on a suspended rope) and acroyoga (the fun combination of yoga and acrobatics) in the quest for peaceful mind, body and soul. Musical performances will be featured on the main stage, and the Kula Marketplace will showcase unique apparel, jewelry, and handcrafted items from local craft vendors.
A Kombucha Garden, cafe and juice bar will be available for refreshments, although bagged lunches are welcome.
