This gospel musical exploring African-American history and identity is now showing at the Southwest Arts Center. The play follows six black women in the South whose life experiences are woven into their hats. When the central character, Yolanda arrives in the South from Chicago after the death of her brother she gains strength from the stories of women in her circle and their connection to their headwear. ATLANTA DESIGN FESTIVAL: THE HISTORY OF PONCE CITY MARKET

In conjunction with General Assembly, the Atlanta Design Festival brings together architect/photographer Blake Burton and historian Jerry Hancock to discuss how they documented the adaptive reuse of the former Sears, Roebuck & Company warehouse into Ponce City Market. Signed copies of their book, Ponce City Market: The Rise, Fall, and Rebirth of Atlanta’s Largest Building will be available for purchase. The History of Ponce City Market. 6:30 - 9 p.m. May 30. Free.
