You don’t have to leave Atlanta to eat some of the nation’s best barbecue, according to a recently released list.
Travel website CheapTickets.com named Atlanta as one of the top 10 barbecue destinations in the United States based on CheapTickets editors' picks and a nationwide survey.
The website's editors analyzed 150 travel markets and whittled that list down to 10, considering tips from local experts and personal experience in those cities, said Cassidy Smith, spokeswoman for CheapTickets.com.
The 10 cities were then sent out through a public survey, which 521 people across the country to rank.

- Kansas City, Missouri
- Nashville, Tennessee
- Charleston, South Carolina
- St. Louis, Missouri
- New Orleans
- Greenville, South Carolina
This is the third year CheapTickets has conducted this survey. Atlanta placed eighth in 2015 and ninth in 2014.
And with it being so close to one of the biggest barbecue holidays of the year —Independence Day —it's a perfect time to visit some of metro Atlanta’s best barbecue joints based off of a recent AJC poll.
